Cultural persistence in corruption, economic growth, and the environment

چکیده

Evidence that attributes current environmental outcomes to historical and cultural origins has gained momentum in recent years. In this study, I construct a model demonstrate why the relation between economic growth quality hinges on deeply rooted traits govern attitudes towards corruption. Specifically, show transmission of determine corruptibility public officials, who are entrusted with inspection reporting firms’ emissions, leads history-dependant outcomes. It sets motion either vicious circle corruption, high pollution low growth, or virtuous where corruption does not infringe policy, is lower higher. These have major policy implications.
